Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to know what the steam pressure is when sizing a steam coil?

For proper performance and appropriate materials of construction, we do need to know the steam pressure. It is essential for selecting the right tube wall thickness and type for reliable and safe operation of the steam coil.

How do I know when to use a standard steam coil vs a steam distribution coil?

Standard steam coils are usually used for entering air temperatures of 55 degrees or above. If the air temperature is lower, it is more common to utilize a “non-freeze” steam distribution coil.

Do I need to pitch my steam coils?

You do not pitch the tubes for standard steam coils. For steam distribution coils it is common to pitch the coils within the casing to allow for proper condensate flow through the tubes.
